The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) was established in the Los Angeles area in 1964 with nine teams. It was the dream of a group of devoted soccer enthusiasts who started the organization in a garage. Today, AYSO has more than 50,000 teams, more than 650,000 players and more than 250,000 volunteers!

Welcome to the AYSO Region 580 Homepage!
Region 580 sponsors youth soccer in Central Tucson for ages 4 to 17. Founded in 1986, Region 580 serves an ever-growing family of soccer kids and parents, many of whom return with their own kids and grandkids!
Region 580's season starts in September and runs through January 2010. Tournament play begins in January with the Area Play-offs for U-12 and up. Our season culminates with the Old Pueblo Invitational, a well-known regional tournament. Play often then continues for committed teams through the tournament season, which extends through May.
Volunteerism forms the core of our operations. Parents, relatives, friends and neighbors pitch in to run the Region. Positions range from coaching, refereeing, and working on the Regional Board, to candy parent, banner-maker, and snack guru. Generally, coaches form the team volunteer group, which sends volunteers throughout the Region's operations. The more volunteers we have, the better and easier it is for everyone.
We're here for the kids! Soccer was meant to be played with minimum interference and in the highest traditions of sportsmanship, high self esteem, and with fair, never violent, contact. We believe strongly in the philosophies of the AMERICAN YOUTH SOCCER ORGANIZATION, which are:
